The 1221 ha Spectral Lake Property is located 17 km SW of Flin Flon, Manitoba. The property is accessed via a gravel road, and access within the claim boundaries can be attained by truck and all-terrain vehicle.
The property was staked for the many Cu, Zn, and Au mineral showings adjacent to and within the Spectral Lake Project and the prominent electromagnetic conductor associated with mafic volcanic rocks of the Amisk Lake Group. These rocks also host Cu-Zn-Au mineralization at the Konuto VMS Mine and the historic Coronation and Flexar Mines less than 10km west of the property.
The property is 100% owned by Eagle Plains with no underlying royalties or encumbrances.
- Excellent geology/alteration favourable for VMS deposits
- Adjacent multiple past-producing VMS mines including the Konuto, Coronation, Birch Lake and Flexar
- Coincident untested geophysical/geochemical anomalies associated with favourable geology
- Excellent nearby infrastructure including: Rail, Hwy, Airport, Smelter, Hydro, Logging roads
- Significantly underexplored with encouraging exploration to date
On a Regional scale the property is underlain by mafic tholeiitic island arc rocks of the Paleoproterozoic Birch Lake Assemblage and protomylonites to ultramylonites of the Mystic Lake Assemblage.
In the vicinity of the Amisk Lake -Mystic Lake - Spectral Lake areas precious metal mineralization is associated with pyrite and quartz, along with copper, lead, zinc, and antimony bearing sulphides and small quantities of bismuth and antimony tellurides. Sericite altered wallrock forms an envelope surrounding the sulphide dominant mineralization and quartz veins have been observed to be deformed, consistent with the overall deformation style in this region
Nearly all of the economic orebodies in the Flin Flon-Snow Lake Volcanic Belt are stratabound VMS deposits occurring within the Island Arc assemblages of the Amisk Group. The nearby past-producing Birch Lake and Flexar Mines were identified using ground-based EM surveys to locate conductive zones along a major fault between the two mines that coincides with variably altered chlorite and sericite rocks. Mineralization is concentrated along these altered north-trending conductive and magnetic shear zones, occurring as semi-massive to massive sulphide zones of chalcopyrite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, and lesser magnetite and sphalerite.
The Spectral Lake Project is located in the Flin Flon Mining District dominated by HudBay Minerals. It is located within 7 km of four past-producing mines.

Exploration work at the Spectral Lake Property has focussed on both VMS and structurally controlled Au mineralization:
Spectral Lake Showing
In 1953, 201 m of diamond drilling in 2 holes tested a geophysical anomaly and intersected massive bands of pyrite-pyrrhotite and minor chalcopyrite over widths of 1.2 to 7.9 m. The chalcopyrite was mainly contained in fractures. Assays returned up to 0.56% Cu over 0.6 m and 0.2% Cu and 0.3% Zn over 1.2m.
In 1988, geological mapping, prospecting, and rock sampling were conducted.
Boys and Getz Showings
In 1989, Freewest Resources conducted channel sampling of the Getz and Boys Showings located in the NW portion of the property. This sampling returned values of:
||Description of Zone and Showing
||30.75 g/t Au
||34.1 g/t Au
||11.2 g/t Au
||2 g/t Au
EX Claim Showing
In 1988 Cameco conducted Au exploration consisting of geological mapping, prospecting and rock sampling near the EX Claim Showing area.
2 Unnamed Showings
In 1978, two drill holes in the west-central portion of the property intersected visible pyrite and graphite mineralization with one hole reported to intersect 1.5 m of sulphides.
Eagle Plains Exploration
A first-pass in 2013 evaluated the economic potential of the property and targeted further exploration.
At the north end of the property geophysical anomalies associated with structures of interest and EM conductors were prospected, an anomalous Au, Cu, Zn and Mo sample was collected. Outcrop exposure is poor and limits sampling opportunities, with the best rock sample returning 173 ppb Au.
The anomalous gold sample near historical sub-lake EM conductors within 10 km of a producing mine makes this an interesting albeit poorly understood property. Additional data compilation of recent Manitoba derived airborne geophysical data along with historical work is recommended prior to a follow up field program that would consist of geochemical sampling and prospecting.
